Toothless

So since I posted about the last tooth, Bella has pulled three more... She pulled them all in the last week! She pulled them all by her self too, I'm so proud! I guess she learned after the dramatic events of the last tooth that it really isn't that bad!

A Lesson Learned

So Bellas started a little attitude lately. The attitude where her parents know nothing and she knows everything. She came to us tonight and told us that Zoe cut her own hair a few days ago and that she wanted to do it too. I asked if Zoe did it by herself or if she had help. Zoe said her moms friend is a hair stylist and she helped after Zoe did the initial cutting. I explained to Bella then that Zoe cut some hair herself but she didn't make it look cute all by herself and that hers won't look like that when its done. I said people pay money to go to college to cut hair because its not so easy that a 7 year old can do it. If it was then people wouldn't go to someone to get it cut, they would do themselves. She argued and said yes it will look cute Mom, I know how to do it. We decided then that she could cut her own hair with two conditions. If she didn't like it, she was stuck with it until school starts again in the fall, and then if she wanted to fix it she pays for it to get fixed by a professional out of her own money. She said okay, so convinced we were wrong and that it would look good, she was unconcerned with the outcome.

Yes those are tears in the last picture, because when she realized I was serious about what I said it broke her heart. She doesn't like her hair so much that she told me I can't take pictures all summer. I will of course being taking pictures and one day when her daughter tries the same thing, she can show her these pictures and look back and laugh. Until then, I think she has learned an important lesson, Mom and Dad may still actually know more than she does, and maybe next time when we say no, it's a bad idea, she will listen.

P.S. At some point in the hair cutting Zoe took the scissors and cut a chunk off the top of her really cute new hair do. Apparantly they both needed to learn a lesson tonight.

Ouchie Boo Boo

Cambri fell down at daycare today. She split her lip with her new teeth. It was bloody, and by the time we picked her up it was swollen. Poor little girl got her first real ouchie boo boo.

Character Counts

Every month the teachers at Bellas school pick two kids from each classroom to win a character award. Last month was leadership and Bella was picked for the award. I went to her assembly this morning to see her presented with her award. She got a student of the month t-shirt and later today she will get some ice cream cake! Since Bella has started school she has gotten an award every year (I imagine to be fair every kid gets one) and its always for leadership! Way to go Bella!

Field Day

When I was a kid there was such a thing as competition. There was winners, there was loosers. If you were a looser it taught you to work harder to become a winner. Life wasn't fair, and it still isn't. People aren't always nice. It's all part of life and going through that stuff as a child prepares you for the future. I went to Bellas field day today and there was only one competitive sport. Tug of war. They did girls against boys, the girls one every time but once when a male teacher helped the boys.

Schools and sports at this age are only for fun, nobody wins, nobody gets first place. Because of this, the boys didn't know how to cope with loosing. They had probably never experienced it before. The boys cried, they yelled, they complained how it wasn't fair. One boy shoved a girl and it almost started a fight. We have done away with all this stuff because some where along the line people thought it was better. But is it really? What are these children going to do when they grow up and apply for a job and don't get it, but their friend with the same qualifications does? They won't know how to cope, they may get mad and retaliate against the company physically. Maybe by then it will be okay to file a lawsuit against the company for unfairness. People will have to watch their backs, always worried about a lawsuit or an attack, and isn't that what we are trying to do away with. It appears to me that maybe we are only making a bad situation worse. Isn't lawsuits and attacks on others just a different form of bullying. It seems the future will be bullied by the under dog instead of the top dog, but its still bullying. That's just my two sense on the situation though, where I see bad I suppose others are seeing good or they wouldn't do it this way. Anyway, even though there was no competitive sports events and no winners or loosers, it was nice to see Bella have so much fun at her field day!

Dare Devil

Cambri is quite brave and a bit of a dare devil. She climbs the stairs, she tries to climb the baby gates, and out of her crib. Her favorite thing to do is to stand in the middle of her train and bounce. She has fallen a few times but always gets right back up. I can tell I'm gonna have my hands full with her, that's for sure.

Anniversary 2012

This is us, shortly after we started dating. Nine years ago today I started dating my best friend, and six years ago today I married him. Who would have thought in nine years we would come so far. Not everyone has been supportive of us, and I suppose they had their own reasons for that, but here we are proving those people wrong every day. Though we may not have done everything the "ideal" way, we are proving everyday that we are more than just a statistic, a number written in someone's book. We have a forever kind of love, one that lasts and can withstand the test of time. The last nine years have been the happiest of my life, and everyday I look forward to spending the rest of my life with Johnny. No matter what the future has to bring, I know with my best friend by my side, we can make it through anything. I love you Johnny and happy 6th wedding anniversary!
