When you have a baby, you celebrate all of their firsts. It was only recently, after giving birth to what is most likely my last child that I realized all to often we get caught up celebrating the firsts that we forget to also celebrate the lasts. A lot of times, we as parents arent even aware its a last.
I cant remember the last time I helped Bella pick out her first day of school outfit. The last time I walked her in to her classroom on her first day. She at some point outgrew needing my help (or wanting it) and started to do things for herself. This year, after going back to school shopping, she took her bags down to her room, wrote her name on her stuff, and loaded her back pack with her new belongings. I guess last school year was the last year I got to do that. I had no idea it would be my last time.
Though I dont know for certain what lasts this year will bring, I do know its the first day of her last year of elementary school and I know before middle school starts there is going to be way to many lasts to count. So I plan on holding on to each moment (maybe so long it annoys her) and treating it as her last, all while hoping that it isnt.
I hope you enjoy the 6th grade B and have a wonderful year. I love you
